We are a friendly, Anglican Church in the centre of the harbour village of Itchenor and are always delighted to welcome newcomers and we hope you will feel at home. Our church ‘family’ includes people of all ages and backgrounds, with a variety of Christian experience and understanding. We are in the mainstream of Christian thought and practice, believing that the Bible is the basis for our faith and living, but also explaining and developing this faith. We invite you to share in the life of our church and our vision for the future.
Services at St. Nicholas’ usually follow a regular pattern and we offer a number of different ways to worship God and to discover more about him.
On the First and Third Sundays at 8am we have a traditional Communion Service from the Book of Common Prayer. We have a ‘Young Church’ on the first Sunday at 9am –‘Little Nick’s’, a service for younger children and parents lasting 30 minutes with Bible based singing, drama and craft activities. It is followed by ‘bacon butties’ provided by members of the Church family.
On the Second and Fourth Sundays, we have a Communion Service at 11am, during which we receive bread and wine as a reminder of Jesus’ sacrifice for us on the Cross.
On the Third Sunday we have ‘Songs of Praise’ an informal service of sung worship and testimony/stories of personal faith and encouragement. Additionally on the Fourth Sunday at 6pm, we have church@6 a service of informal worship with modern worship songs, teaching and prayer.
The Fifth Sunday can be a variety of services including Matins, Communion and a service of the Word.
Please check the calendar for details of forthcoming services.
