So why do you set up a 24/7 prayer space? Doesn’t God know all the prayers on our hearts, surely He doesn’t really want you to get up at 1am and drive over to the Church Room on a cold winter’s night?
Yes, it is about prayer but it’s not one-way traffic, it is about listening to what God is saying to us. So we make a space that feels slightly different to what we might expect with creative ways of helping us to focus and reconnect with our Father in heaven.
One little boy said, “It’s not the same as normal prayer is it? I prefer this way of praying it’s much better.” It was a great blessing to see the children of West Wittering School enjoying the space and activities, and next January there will be a prayer space for Birdham School children to explore. Who knows what seeds God is planting in our hearts? The great mystery of God’s love for us all!
Welcome to the Year of Prayer, welcome to Advent, welcome to the Christ child and the incarnation of the Word made flesh. And keep listening!
It is open from 5-6pm on Friday and 9pm for night prayer, and Saturday 12-2pm. It will close on Saturday at 2pm and the Advent Carol service is at 3pm in St. Peter & St. Paul Church West Wittering.
Almighty God, give us grace to case away the works of darkness and put on the armout of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which you Son Jesus Christ came to us in great humility; that on the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; though him who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen
We continue to pray for:
