Prayer & Preaching 13th October

Here is a picture of a happy man!

Who is he? Well, this is Thibault, a 30 year old Frenchman and optician who was paralysed four years ago when he fell15m in an incident at a night club. Through the miracle that is modern medicine, he has now been able to move his four limbs by using a mind-controlled exoskeleton suit. (Check it out by following this link:  – it’s incroyable).

He had surgery to place two implants on the surface of the brain, covering the parts that control movement. He said taking his first steps in the suit felt like being the “first man on the Moon”.

That must feel amazing! I think his radiant smile captures that deep JOY and a true LIBERATION.

Thibault never lost faith that he would, somehow, be able to move again. Whilst he wants to keep his surname private, he also wants the world to know how this ground-breaking medical miracle has transformed his life and that, in time, it will do the same for countless others.

In today’s gospel we encounter the miracle of Christ’s liberating love for 10 lepers. However, only one was truly healed – the one who had a JOYFUL FAITH that he could return ‘praising God’!

What power there must be in a joyful faith….? Oh, for a faith that’s like walking on the moon!

Jonathan, Rector.

Almighty God, you have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless till they find their rest in you: pour your love into our hearts and draw us to yourself, and so bring us at last to your heavenly city where we shall see you face to face; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.  Amen

We continue to pray for:
