Harbour Churches Newsletter 24th October

Last week I wrote about how we need to be more bold (or just ‘bolder’!) in putting our faith into action in response to the climate crisis.

In his letter to the church in Ephesus, Paul tells those first Christians that boldness comes when we are  one with Christ in faith (Eph. 3.12). We echo this in our Sunday’s special prayer. We will pray that God may illuminate our lives, that we may see God’s goodness in the land of the living, and looking on God’s beauty, we may be changed into the likeness of Jesus Christ. Creation is like a stain-glass of God.

That’s a huge WHAT which needs an equally big HOW!

I believe passionately that as we grow in faith, we will grow not only in boldness, but also Christ-likeness. That’s how we, as Christians, can become salt, yeast and light for the world. Moreover, it’s how we have a distinctive and unique voice to bring to the issue of the climate crisis. Be Jesus.

All of us need to be open to opportunities to deepen our faith as we develop our discipleship. Harbour Churches will be offering the Alpha Course this autumn. It’s open to everyone.

There will be a taster session next Sunday in the SJC 11.15am – 11.45am and we hope to run a course in person and supported on-line, from 20th November  (date/venue tbc).

As Christians we do have a purpose… and believe me its more than just arguing about how we do church! We are called to be one with Christ and co-workers for his Father’s kingdom. That requires great faith. Why not come and have a ‘faith-lift’ though Alpha?

Prayers and blessings
