Harbour Churches Newsletter 15th August

This Sunday 8th August we meet for worship outdoors at St James, Birdham @ 10am.  This will be a service of Holy Communion.  We continue to offer a Covid secure 8am Holy Communion (BCP) each Sunday @ St Peter and St Paul, West Wittering and alternate weeks at St James, Birdham and St Nicholas. Itchenor – this Sunday at Birdham. You no longer need to book for these services.

Bruce will lead our service and will also be preaching.

His theme is the Story of Elijah part 2; the sequel to the 10am four weeks ago which was ‘A Prophet at War. This one is entitled A Prophet at Peace. Things have changed both for Elijah and Israel and God’s will unfolds throughout the story. What huge lessons we have to learn from this story. Don’t miss it!  and yes of course, we will be singing Swing Low……

There will be no ‘Sofa Service’ this week and Morning and Night prayer will not be available during August.

We continue to name in our prayers:
Carrie Goddard, Charlie Gray, Johanna Morrish, Eloise and baby Elijah

We give thanks for the life of Ann Beazer.

We pray in celebration for the marriage of Hannah Swindells and John Butler.

The collect for this Sunday

O God, you declare your almighty power
most chiefly in showing mercy and pity:
mercifully grant to us such a measure of your grace,
that we, running the way of your commandments,
may receive you gracious promises,
and be made partakers of your heavenly treasure:
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
